Welcome to the Neighborhood

I had the opportunity to guest post for Traci at Beneath My Heart last month while she was moving.  I thought you all might enjoy the Welcome to the Neighborhood idea and free printable!

A couple of years ago when someone was moving into our area I gave them a list of our favorites. They LOVED it!! Isn’t that one of the hardest things about moving to a new place? Not knowing which doctor is the best? Or a yummy restaurant to visit?
So I made a Welcome to the Neighborhood card and a Things We Love card. Write a little note on the welcome card. Fill out the things we love card. Attach it some treats. And you’re all set!

All printed out:

Make your favorite cookies. Our family really loves these homemade oreos.

…..mmmmmmmmm……
I then put the cookies in a tin tie bag.
I used a hole punch and looped twine through
the cards and wrapped twine around the top.

A few other treats to drop off:

What do you do when new neighbors move in?

About Mique

Hi- I'm Mique (as in Mickey). I started 30days as an idea file a few years ago. After three years and hundreds of ideas, I now realize that I'll never check them all off my list. When I'm not creating, I love spending time with family and friends and long drives, especially if they end at the beach.

  1. Well I’m not a very good neighbor. I think about all the things I could do and end up doing nothing! You are brilliant! This is so fun and cute and I can’t wait to spend time in August with you. Can we please spend some time together this QBM?! Maybe the evening before!

  2. this is the best idea ever! I just moved to a new town this last month and it would have made my day if a neighbor had brought this over. I can’t wait to get to know my new town and then hopefully get a new neighbor soon so I can do this! I just love it! You are so creative and thoughtful!

  3. When we sold our house to a family from out of state we left them an atlas of our area. Usually when people move in to our neighborhood I bring over either dinner or a dessert with my number.

    • That’s awesome that you left an atlas for the new owners. And I love that you bring new neighbors a dinner or desert- it seems like that doesn’t happen as much these days!

Also, if you have a list of favorite link parties, I’d love to be included on Fridays. Thanks a ton!

  8. Wow!!! I so wish I had thought of this a week ago when our new neighbors moved in!!! Will be doing this in the future!!! Thanks so much!!! Awesome project!!!

  9. Generally, it seems, I freak out our new neighbours. I take over some fresh produce/flowers from the garden, a home-baked loaf of bread and a little welcome note. After that I barely hear from them lol A sign of the times we live in I guess.
Except for two lots of neighbours, that is. Those we would nod hello to and exchange small baked goods at Easter and Christmas but more often than not, kindness freaks people out. Sad huh.

  11. We’ve had 3 new neighbours in the last year and all have been from within our city. I love your card though – I look forward to using it. I made a loaf or cookies and took over some fresh produce (when in season). We did up a card and included our last Christmas photo with our names and phone number. A little cheesy yes but I have such a hard time remembering names that I hope it helps someone else! Our whole family goes together to welcome them a week or so after they moved in.

  12. We have a new family moving in on Friday! We’re heading over at 1:00 to help them get moved in. I’d love to take them some treats with your adorable, helpful tag! Just have to replace my color ink cartridge first!!! LOL Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent.

  14. Well as someone who has moved a lot, this is a great idea! The only thing I would change is to put the area code before the numbers. (It is hard to remember what the new area code it at first). Idaho Falls was one of our stops for about a year, never got use to the none stop wind there. Thanks for the printable!

  15. I love, love, love this! I just moved into a new neighborhood and the final three houses just sold so I was looking for ideas to bring to them, this is perfect! I have a question though–where do you get that cute twine?? Michaels doesn’t seem to have it…Thanks!!
